Around 393,500 tonnes of ground coffee are brewed annually, resulting in an estimated quarter of a million tonnes of wet, waste coffee grounds. 75% of these waste coffee grounds end up in landfill. Whilst decomposing, they emit methane, a greenhouse gas 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide and is one of the primary causes of global warming. But thesecoffee grounds can be repurposed for fuel and even have cosmetics and hair care benefits.
As coffee grounds have a long list of benefits for the body, such as making hair healthier and stronger, Tresemme and Caffe Nero have teamed up to redirect the waste coffee grounds to make beneficial products for your hair and the environment.
